Its OK lah

Was chatting with my British friend for a bit this morning. He told me about his trip to Malaysia. I am suprise by what he said. Like he thinks having condensed milk with tea and coffee is brilliant, also how Malaysians can't make proper eggs with toast, eating at food shops with no doors etc etc. The thing that really amused me was he said he still don't quite understand why Malaysians like to say 'Its OK 'lah'.' plus including 'lah' in every sentence we say be it Malay, English or Mandarin or Hokkien etc.

We say it all the time like when we go visit someone and the host will ask if we want a drink. We will say 'Its OK lah'. When you say that, the host will still make you a drink anyway. Or like when we go shopping and your friend ask you what you think of a shirt. If it is average looking again we will say 'Its OK lah.' Or when you meet someone you haven't met for ages and you ask how he or she has been and almost always the answer will be 'Like that lah.' or again 'Its OK lah.'
All this chat about Malaysia made me feel so homesick....

On a totally unrelated note to the title of this blog - we suprise Shu Bei with a strawberry sponge cake ( made by Chef John, Chef Jin and Apprentice PJ). We suprised her at the strike of midnite.

Then this evening we suprised her again. Mostly ready made oven food like curly fries, ( Andrew) pizza, (Stella ) scampi, ( Jin) ice cream ( John), buns (me) because everyone was busy with datelines and all that kinda shit. But we also had some home made stuffs courtesy of Daffy ( vegie satay and salmon rolls with cheese), Fel plus Dais (yoghurt and loads of fruits plus fruity lemonade) and Jin ( fruit salad). My brain feels so tired now. It has been a very stressful and emotional few days with loads of work and other issues.
